DO YOU: buy a handbag for its Label or its Features? | 07/31/08 17:07 PM

How important is it that a handbag is functional and practical? Would you sacrifice practicality just so you can wear a well-known label?? Sandra and I both buy things that possess personality. A handbag is a very personal item and it should be both beautiful and practical. We are usually attracted to exquisite design and don't care much about labels. As long as our handbag represents who we are and reflects our personal style, we'll buy it. What are your thoughts???

I always buy handbags for style and functionality; not for the label. I don't like to wear conspicuous labels. However, I do take pride in telling others about the fabulous designers I discover in this business.

I would say its a little bit of both for me. Having been a buyer for luxury leather, I obviously LOVE my labels and have loyalty when it comes to them, however that wouldn't stop me from buying outside of my "brand circle" if it was incredibly functional.

Ugh, I'll be the first to admit that I am a total sucker for designer handbags. I can't remember the last time I bought something that didn't cost over a few hundred dollars. It's a terrible addiction that I can blame my mother for, and I'm desperately trying to break it. With that said, I'm a little bit of both. For any handbag that I consider purchasing, it MUST be fully functional and practical. The price may not be practical or economical for that matter, so to make up for it, that baby better better have the life span of a turtle and be able to store all the crap that this bag lady owns! I definitely can appreciate simple leather bags that aren't designer, though. I'm just searching for the perfect one.

I go for features. Labels are good, but I don't buy designer unless I really love the style. I've found some great funky ones over the years at places like flea markets and sample sales.

Normally I buy a handbag for its features; I love a bag with lots of room, and great personality (fun color and detail). I actually own a few big labels but they are all hand-me downs from my mom's Studio 54 days! But if I could afford to drop a few grand on a fab label bag you better believe I would, I totally need a YSL muse bowler bag!
